Henfield Youth Club

This facility is the Youth Club for the Henfield area. It is a CIO and run by trustees. It is open 4 evenings a week:

Tuesdays from 6 – 7.30pm for junior members aged 7½ -12

Wednesdays is a chill night for young people who need a quieter session with their carers’ present.

Thursdays from 7.30 – 9pm for older members 12 – 17

Fridays from 7 – 9pm is a Poppin Café for 13 – 17 year olds

Special events: they take groups of children out for trips.

The Club is also hired out for parties, etc.

The Club is situated on the King’s Field near the Leisure Centre, which has football pitches, basketball court and a skateboard park with a graffiti board.

Active8 Nursery

This nursery uses the building during the day on weekdays. It takes children from 0 – 5 years and is open 5 days a week from 7.45 – 18.00.

Parking – There are 5 parking spaces outside the Club, one of which is a disabled parking bay with a dropped kerb. There are also 3 disabled parking at the back of the Leisure Centre, which is approx 150 metres away.

Entrance - The entrance to the club is along a path from the parking bays. The entrance door with handrails is relatively easy to open, or there is a bell to gain assistance. There is a 1” (3cm) lip at the entrance which most wheelchair users can manage. The door is wide 34” (87cm). There is a lobby with carpet leading to another door which is generally left open and is 34.5” (88cm) wide.

Inside the Youth Club – It is all on one level with different rooms with easy access to all areas. There is a central carpeted area with sofa seating, and a counter, at the back of which is a large kitchen where members can be involved in cooking. There is a sports hall with a DJ booth in a room at one end; a computer/relaxing room, and a paved room which has shutters on 2 walls. There are lots of equipment such as table tennis, air hockey, table football, Playstation, there are musical instruments and a DJ Booth, and much more...

Toilets – There is an accessible disabled toilet with 5 handrails, one of which is adjustable. The room is 145 x 220cm. There are separate male and female toilets. A baby changing unit is in the disabled toilet.
