Evangelical Free Church
The church, which was built in 1832 is situated on Henfield High Street, and a hall was added in 1999. There is a Worship Service on Sundays at 10.30 and a prayer meeting on Wednesdays from 10 – 11am. Many local groups use the hall: eg ladies breakfast club, men’s evening meeting, singing, ukulele group, table tennis, toddler’s group, bridge group, yoga, dance, exercise and camera club.
Parking – Mobility scooters are often parked outside the hall side entrance on the grass.
Coopers Way council car park is situated up the road from the church and has 4 disabled parking spaces with dropped kerbs/slopes.
The Library council car park is across the road from the church with 3 disabled parking spaces and slope to the high street.
Entrance - The main entrance from the High Street is via 3 steps (18cm high) with a handrail. There are double doors which are open when there is a service/event. The doors enter into a foyer with easy chairs and then through double glass doors into the church.
There is a level entrance to the right side of the church down a pathway and through 2 sets of double doors (width 75cm & 79cm single), with a 1” lip on the outer door. This leads to the church and the Hall. Mobility scooters can be left outside this entrance. There is a bell by the door.
Within the Church – The church has chairs which can be moved to accommodate a wheelchair. There are hearing loops in both the church and hall and a microphone speaker system in the church.
Church Hall – this is along 2 short corridors from the church. There are 2 sets of double doors to a small patio with a ramp down from one door. The kitchen is off the hall with a hatch.
Toilets – There is a unisex disabled toilet with 1 adjustable and 3 fixed handrails which is accessible for a wheelchair. Room size 155 x 200cm. The door has a closer and is 85cm wide. There is also a baby changing facility in this toilet. There are separate female and male.
