H.J. Burt Estate Agent and Chartered Surveyors is an independent partnership which started in Steyning in 1887, so has good local knowledge. It has bases in Henfield, Steyning and Mayfair in London. They provide an all-round service whether buying, selling or letting, and give valuation and advice on all types of residential, equestrian, agricultural or commercial property.
They are open Monday to Friday 9 – 6 and Saturdays 9 – 2. But the office may be closed if staff are visiting a client.
Parking – There is on-street parking outside the office. Coopers Way council car park is situated on the same side of the road from the office and has 90 spaces and 6 disabled parking spaces.
The Library council car park is across the road from the office with 81 parking places including 4 disabled parking spaces.
Mobility scooters can be parked outside the office or there is covered parking at the end of Caudle Street.
Entrance - There is a 5½” (14cm) step at the entrance. The 2’6” (78cm) wide door opens inwards to a 4 foot square area. There are then 3 x 7” brick steps up, with a handrail into the office area. If a customer is unable to manage the steps, then staff can speak to them outside or a home visit or phone call can be arranged. Buggies are often left inside the door.
Inside the Office – There is lots of space to move around. There are ceiling spotlights throughout the office and light from the window which makes it nice and bright. The noise level is usually quiet, depending on whether another staff member is talking with customers. Staff usually sit or stand facing the customer making lip reading easier.
Toilets – There is a toilet at the back of the office for emergency use.
Customers are directed to the public toilets in the high street, where there are separate male and female toilets and a unisex accessible disabled toilet which can be accessed with a radar key. A radar key can be borrowed from the office.
