Garden Sage Nurseries and Cafe

This is a lovely independent plant nursery opened in 2016. Their aim is to provide knowledgeable gardeners, complete novices and everyone in between with good advice, unusual and fun plants as well as the staples

that make a garden work. Plants, shrubs and trees are set out to look like a garden both in polytunnels and outside. Plants are also displayed on staging to make them easier to see. The Nursery is open from 8.30 – 5pm Monday to Saturday, and 10 – 4pm on Sundays.

The Mayblossom cafe is in a marquee with seating both inside and out. They serve homemade specials at lunchtime at a very reasonable price, as well as filled jacket potatoes, panini’s, sandwiches and baguettes. Alice specialises in cakes, which can also be made to order and outside catering.

Parking - There is a large relatively flat car park with chippings, which is marked out for vehicles. There is a drop off point next to the café. Cars can also back up to load bags of soil enhancers, bark, etc.

Nursery Area - There is no entrance door or gate into the nursery. The whole site is relatively flat so suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. There are undercover areas which contain the shop, shrubs and plants. Doorways/entrances are wide and ramps are in place in most places. Some plants are kept on staging so easier to see. There

is some seating available. Trolleys are available to collect items to buy. Staff are happy to help if asked and are experienced helping people with special needs.

Mayblossom Café – The café is in a marquee with seating inside around tables, and bench seating outside. The servery is in the middle of the 2 areas. There is a pipe in the doorway to the marquee which most disabled people can get over. The door to the café is 96cm wide.

Toilets

There are 2 portaloo’s. One is a disabled unisex toilet with a flat entrance. It is 140 x 142cm size inside, with a door width of 80cm, and handrails on 2 sides. There is also a normal size unisex portaloo with a step up.
