Hamfeld’s Home and Garden

This is the traditional village hardware store for the area, selling a wide range of hardware, gardening tools and cleaning products. They also have a state-of-the-art paint mixing facility; are a SodaStream stockist; as well as selling items such as haberdashery and crafts supplies.

It is an independent shop which it very friendly, and staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. The shop is open 7 days a week Monday to Saturday 9am – 5pm, and Sundays 10 – 2pm. Dogs are welcome.

Parking – There is some high street parking.

Coopers Way council car park is situated very close to the shop and has 4 disabled parking spaces with dropped kerbs/slopes.

The Library council car park is across the High Street from the shop with 3 disabled parking spaces.

Mobility scooters are often parked outside the shop.

Entrances into the Shop – There are 3 entrances to the shop. 2 from the High Street with 3” and 5” steps. To the side of the shop is an accessible wheelchair entrance with a shallow ramp into the shop. Small mobility scooters/wheelchairs could come in, but there is little turning space.

Inside the shop – There is a is counter in the centre of the shop, with staff who are very happy to help. There are 4 long aisles and more shelving areas towards the side and back of the shop. If you are in a wheelchair or mobility scooter it is often easier to ask a member of staff for help because of the extensive range of items on the shelves.

There is a TV monitor at the counter which can show what is on the shelves upstairs, and staff are willing to get items if customers are not able to get it themselves.

Toilet - There is no toilet in the shop.

There are public toilets in the High Street, with separate female and male toilets, and an accessible disabled unisex toilet accessed using a radar key.
